Framework 119
Terms Guide
A simple guide to several biblical words and phrases used across Framework 119. These notes are meant to help readers understand the language without interrupting the main message of the Good News.
Yehovah
Yehovah is the personal name of God as represented by the Hebrew letters often called the Tetragrammaton. Framework 119 uses “Yehovah” to honor the covenant name of the God of Israel.
Yeshua
Yeshua is the Hebrew/Aramaic name commonly rendered “Jesus” in English. Framework 119 uses “Yeshua” to emphasize the Messiah’s biblical Jewish context.
Messiah
Messiah means “Anointed One.” In Greek, the related word is often rendered “Christ.” Yeshua is the promised Messiah, the King through whom God brings redemption and His Kingdom.
Good News
The Good News, often called the Gospel, is the announcement that God’s Kingdom has come near through Yeshua the Messiah. Yeshua died for our sins, was buried, and was raised from the dead. God calls people to repent, trust Him, and follow Him.
Repent
To repent is to turn from sin and turn back to God. Repentance is not merely feeling regret; it is a real turning of the heart, mind, and life toward God.
Sin
Sin is rebellion against God, violation of His will, and failure to love Him and others as He commands. Sin separates humanity from God and brings death.
Kingdom of God
The Kingdom of God is God’s reign and rule. Yeshua proclaimed that the Kingdom had come near and called people to repent, believe the Good News, and live under God’s authority.
Disciple
A disciple is a learner and follower. A disciple of Yeshua does not merely admire Him from a distance, but learns from Him, trusts Him, obeys Him, and walks as He walked.
Master
Master refers to Yeshua’s rightful authority over His disciples. To call Him Master is to acknowledge that He is not merely a teacher of ideas, but the One we are called to trust, obey, and follow.
Torah
Torah is often translated “Law,” but it carries the sense of instruction, teaching, and direction. In Scripture, Torah reveals God’s righteous ways and forms part of the foundation for faithful obedience.
Tanakh
Tanakh refers to the Hebrew Scriptures: Torah, Prophets, and Writings. These are the Scriptures Yeshua and His apostles taught from and fulfilled in the redemptive purposes of God.
Eternal Life
Eternal life is life with God through Yeshua the Messiah. It includes the promise of resurrection and the age to come, and it begins even now as people turn to God, trust Yeshua, and walk in Him.
